Electrical discharge wire cutting (wire EDM) is an electrothermal production process that removes material from conductive workpieces using electrical discharge. As an improvement on traditional EDM methods, it works with nearly all conductive materials and can produce complex designs with high precision.
Wire EDM is a non-contact manufacturing process that uses charged fine wires and dielectric fluids to shape metal parts. The process creates precise cuts by melting or vaporizing material rather than mechanical removal, enabling production of features unsuitable for traditional machining techniques.
